Sinead Huskisson and Mike McGrath will represent Blarney Toastmasters in the Area 3 Finals of the Humourous Speech and Table Topics Competition after their resounding victories in our Club Competition on Sept 23rd last.
The Area Final will be hosted by the Garryvoe Toastmasters Club and will be held in the local hotel on Tuesday Oct 7th at 8pm. Again all are Welcome and it promises to be a great night again !
Special thanks to Andrea and Dan as Contest Chairs, who set the parameters and did a wonderful job on the night.
To all Blarney Toast Masters who had the privilege to be in attendance on Tuesday last and also to those who were unable to make the meeting.

One of the highlights of our Calender year was held on Tuesday March 25th last went we staged our International Speech and Evaluation Contest.
In front of a large audience the Speech Contest was won by Toastmaster Mike McGrth with a speech entitled “ Coffee Society”. Mike will now represent BTM at the Area Final to be held at the Midleton Park Hotel on April 16th at 8pm.
Mike had to overcome two excellent speeches by 1st Runner-up Toastmaster Victor Sullivan who delivered an excellent and humourous speech entitled “ I am a Better Man than my Father” Toastmaster Fergal ‘O Callaghan occupied the 2nd Runner-up slot when delivering a thought provoking speech entitled “ Assumptions & Expectations”. Great speeches all !
An equally strong and tight contest was held with our Speech Evaluation Contestants. Evaluating a wonderful speech by visiting Bishopstown Toastmaster Tom Hebel on Body Language the eventual winner was Sara ‘O Mahony who will join Mike at the Area Finals on April 16th. Sara had to fight off the challenges of Toastmaster Dan Mullane and Toastmaster Fergal O Callaghan to capture her prize.
The contest was chaired by Toastmaster Celine Hayes with support from our President Anita Linehan and VP Education Ted Mellamphy. A great evening’s entertainment for the price of a coffee !!
Another highly entertaining meeting was held on Tuesday night last March 11th. Expertly chaired and directed by Toastmaster Eoin McCarthy, we had 3 excellent Stage 4 speeches delivered.
Best Speech on the night was deemed to be Kathleen O Mahony,with a speech entitled “ Hail the arrival of a Terrible Beauty “ during which Kathleen gave us a wonderful insight to the Daffodil. Best Table Topic was present to Pat O Brien, and best evaluation was awarded to Victor O Sullivan.
We are looking forward to a very exciting meeting on March 25th next when our club Speech Contest will be staged. Again all Members and Non- Members are welcome to come alone.
Blarney Toastmasters enjoyed yet another fun and interesting meeting last night at Blarney Woollen Mills, led by Toastmaster Mike McGrath and Topicsmaster Brendan Ronayne.
The meeting was delighted to welcome Area Governor Pat Duggan.
We had 3 wonderful speeches and some very interesting topics with Best Speaker Award going to visiting Toastmaster Mary Madden from the Bishopstown Club, and the Best Evaluator Award to Pat Duggan . Best Topic was awarded to Celine Hayes.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 25th Feb 2014 next.

With a lovely Christmas spirit in the air the final meeting of 2013 took place on Dec 10th last. With a large number of members in attendance we were treated to a lively festive Table Topics session by Toastmaster Dan Mullane. Practically everyone contributed on the night including many of our visitors ! We were joined on the night by 5 visitors who decided to come along to see what Toastmasters was all about, we welcome you and certainly hope that you will return in 2014 !
Speeches on the night we delivered by Mike McGrath who using Powerpoint Visual Aids spoke about the “Art of Listening” and Toastmaster Ted Mellamphy who explained to us all what we need to do to achieve the rank of a Distinguished Club !
Both speeches were very interesting and very informative !

On Tuesday Dec 10th we will host our final Toastmaster meeting of the 2013 ! Following the festivities of our Xmas party on Saturday Nite last at Blackrock Castle members will no doubt be out in force ! Some of the highlights will include a Table Topics session to be hosted by Dan Mullane and a Stage 8 Speech to be delivered by Mike McGrath. So members and visitors alike please join us at 7.45pm at Christy’s Hotel for a final Toastmasters farewell to 2013 !
